A Note to President Bush
Dear President Bush,
Now that the furious flurry of presidential politics has been transported to the orbit of Obama, I would like to convey to you my oh-by-the-way thanks for keeping us safe these many years since 9/11. You have made it look like a piece of cake, just as my father made it look like a piece of cake, defending the shores of Manila.
I have baked cakes from scratch, and I know eggs must be cracked to make a cake; flour must be made through the crushing of wheat; I'm not sure how sugar is produced, but I doubt that it would be the stuff of bed time stories. A cake-from-scratch requires vanilla extract...woe to so many vanilla beans. Yet, we all love cake!
We all love security too...giving no thought to what must be done to refine the ingredients that comprise security, or the baker who must measure those ingredients, combine them properly, establish the needed level of heat, and time the process perfectly.
Your watch has been faithful. You have done well, and I thank you.
Sincerely,
Kathy, the Web Developer
