Freethinking winter solstice sign and billboard to go up in Olympia
The Freedom From Religion Foundation, a state/church watchdog and the nation's largest association of atheists and agnostics, is making its mark on Olympia [Washington] in December.
In addition to erecting a jaunty "Reason's Greetings" billboard in downtown Olympia on East 5th Avenue (cross street Jefferson), the Foundation and its membership have a permit to display a Winter Solstice sign in the Washington State Capitol for the month of December. Members of the Foundation will assemble at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 1, on the third floor (near the George Washington bust) to dedicate the sign.
The engraved sign will read:"At this season of the Winter Solstice, may reason prevail.

Note: How tacky. Not even a nod to the Judeo-Christian all-inclusive greeting, "Season's Greetings"...they just rip it off. What's with the stained glass? What's with the holly? Can't they come up with their own symbols?

American Atheists does have their own symbol, the atom, which I believe they've litigated into a number of holiday displays. A few years I proposed this mascot to soften the atheistic image, but it never caught on.
Well, I'm glad they have their own symbol...interesting that it is an "atom". I know the intent is to focus on science, but it sounds so much like "Adam". Ironic, don't you think? :)
Yes, but the letters of "Madam, in Eden, I'm Adam," read the same forwards and backwards, demonstrating a deterministic symmetry which is a function of atheistic mathematics.
